Jeremy Camp claims his 12th leader on Billboard‘s Christian Airplay chart as “Getting Started” ascends to the top of the list dated Sept. 10.
The coronation ties him with Matthew West for the most Christian Airplay No. 1s among soloists.
In the tracking week ending Sept. 4, the song increased by 4% to 8.4 million audience impressions, according to Luminate.
“I’m so thankful that I am still able to share the songs the Lord has given me, and that they continue to connect with people,” Camp tells Billboard. “I don’t take for granted these opportunities and moments.”
Camp co-wrote “Getting Started” with siblings Ran and Ricky Jackson, who also produced it.
The 44-year-old Camp, from Lafayette, Ind., first led Christian Airplay with “Walk by Faith” in October 2004. “Getting Started” follows “When You Speak,” which reached No. 4 last December (marking his 25th of 26 top 10s). He notched his 11th No. 1 with “Out of My Hands,” which reigned for three frames beginning in March 2021.
With his 12th Christian Airplay chart-topper, Camp ties Matthew West for the most among soloists, dating to the chart’s 2003 start. Among all acts, MercyMe leads with 17 No. 1s. Casting Crowns and for King & Country fall in behind those acts with 11 apiece.
“Getting Started” is from Camp’s LP When You Speak, which opened at its No. 2 high on Top Christian Albums last September, bestowing Camp his 14th and latest top 10.
‘Me’ Time
Lamont Sanders nets his first No. 1 on Gospel Airplay with his freshman single, “He Kept Me” (up 13% in plays). The song, which he co-wrote, is from his 2020 EP He’s a Keeper.
Sanders, from Mount Laurel, N.J., posts the fourth rookie Gospel Airplay No. 1 of 2022, following E. Dewey Smith’s first charted title on the tally, “Your Presence Is a Gift,” for a week in April; Dante Bowe’s “Joyful” (one, February); and Karima’s “Redeemer” (two, January). In the entirety of 2021, six acts’ first entries led the list.
